Harness the sun to power your systems. We design and install custom solar and energy solutions that eliminate electricity costs, bypass grid failures, and guarantee a continuous, eco-friendly water supply.

Grid electricity in Kenya is expensive and unreliable. For a typical medium commercial customer, the all-in cost of grid electricity ranges from KSh 18–28 per kWh, including energy charges, fuel cost adjustments, inflation factors, and levies. Kenya consistently ranks among the highest electricity costs in Africa, with industrial tariffs of 0.18–0.23 USD per kWh depending on the category. Small and medium enterprises pay even more.
Meanwhile, reliability remains a persistent problem. In the first half of FY 2024/2025, customers experienced an average of 9.15 hours of outages per month, exceeding the EPRA target of 3.25 hours.
The number of interruptions averaged 3.57 per month, significantly above EPRA’s benchmark of 1.63. For businesses like hotels, farms, and manufacturing facilities dependent on the continuous water supply, these interruptions translate directly into operational losses.
Solar energy offers a direct solution. The levelised cost of electricity (LCOE) for a well-sized commercial solar system in Kenya is approximately KSh 8–14 per kWh over 25 years. For every kWh of grid electricity displaced by solar, businesses avoid KSh 18–28 in costs, a savings of KSh 6–18 per kWh self-consumed.
Bosch Water & Engineering integrates sustainable energy into your water systems to reduce running costs and ensure reliability in areas with unstable grid power.
Zero Electricity Bills: Eliminate expensive KPLC bills and monthly pumping costs by powering your water systems directly from the sun.
24/7 Water Supply: Bypass grid failures, blackouts, and load-shedding to ensure your taps never run dry.
Fast Return on Investment: Solar pumps pay for themselves within a few years through massive energy savings, then provide free power.
Low Maintenance: Solar panels have no moving parts, require minimal servicing, and outlast traditional diesel generators.
Eco-Friendly: Reduce your carbon footprint and operate a completely green, sustainable water infrastructure.
Perfect for Remote Areas: Access reliable water in off-grid locations (like farms or rural boreholes) where electricity infrastructure doesn't exist.
Silent Operation: Unlike noisy diesel generators, solar pumping systems operate quietly and require no fuel deliveries.
We handle every stage of your solar and energy project, from assessing your current consumption to designing the optimal power setup, installing the equipment, and maintaining it for years to come.
Every energy solution begins with understanding your specific consumption patterns and site conditions. We conduct a comprehensive energy audit to:
This assessment ensures you invest in the right technology—not more than you need, and not less than your operation requires.
Based on your energy audit results, we design a system tailored to your site. This includes:
We calculate the return on investment for each option, so you can make a fully informed decision.
We supply and install all components, using trusted brands and equipment designed for Kenyan conditions. Our installations include proper mounting, wiring, protection systems, and integration with your existing water infrastructure.
Every system is tested and calibrated before handover. We verify solar output, pump performance, and generator operation under load. We also train your team on operation and basic maintenance.
We offer maintenance, performance monitoring, and emergency repair services to keep your solar and generator systems operating at peak efficiency.
Solar-powered pumping is now firmly established as the technology of choice for water supply in remote off-grid applications, and increasingly for general pumping duties where grid power is expensive or unreliable. In Kenya’s arid and semi-arid regions, the government’s KOSAP project is currently constructing 57 solar-powered boreholes in Isiolo and Tana River alone, with hundreds more planned nationwide.
How it works: Solar photovoltaic modules generate DC electricity that powers a submersible pump directly, no batteries required for daytime pumping. Water is pumped from the borehole into storage tanks, providing a reliable supply even when the grid fails.
Typical systems we install:
Application Daily Output Typical Head
Domestic borehole 3–6 m³/day 30–60m
Farm irrigation 10–15 m³/day 40–100m
Commercial/Industrial 15+ m³/day 80–110m+
Systems are available in kit form (including pump, PV modules, cables, and controller) or as fully installed solutions.
Water heating typically accounts for 30–40% of a household or hotel’s energy bill. Solar water heating eliminates most of that cost by using free energy from the sun.
How it works: Solar collectors (vacuum tubes or flat panels) absorb solar radiation and transfer heat to water stored in an insulated tank. A thermosyphon or pumped circulation system moves water between the collectors and the tank.
System Size Household Size Daily Heat Output Typical Price Range
150L 3–5 people 5.6–8.3 kWh KSh 125,000–145,000
200L 5–7 people 7.4–11.2 kWh KSh 125,000–145,000
300L 8–10 people 11.2–16.7 kWh Higher capacity
Vacuum tube systems are particularly effective in Kenya’s climate, with five-year guarantees on tanks and heating tubes. For hotels and clubs, larger arrays can be designed to meet pool heating and domestic hot water requirements.
When solar and storage cannot meet demand, or when critical operations absolutely cannot stop, a backup generator provides the reliability you need.
We supply and install Perkins-powered diesel generators, known for durability, fuel efficiency, and readily available spare parts. These units are available in a range of capacities, from small commercial units to large industrial sets.
Perkins generator specifications (sample range):
Model Power Output Engine Fuel Consumption (75% load)
DGP12 12 kW 403A15G2 ~3.1 L/hr
DGP24 24 kW 1103A33G3 ~5 L/hr
DGP48 48 kW 1103A33TG2 ~10 L/hr
DGP80 80 kW 1104C44TAG2 ~17 L/hr
Perkins generators come with digital control modules, automatic shutdown protection, and sound-attenuated enclosures for quiet operation. Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) options allow seamless switchover during grid failures.
Important cost consideration: Diesel in Kenya costs approximately KSh 218–223 per litre (as of 2026). A 48 kW generator running at 75% load consumes roughly 10 litres per hour, approximately KSh 2,200 per hour in fuel alone. This makes generators best suited for backup or intermittent use, not continuous prime power. For continuous operation, solar is dramatically cheaper.
Before investing in any solar and energy system, you need to know exactly what you’re spending and why. Our energy audits provide:
For a typical medium commercial customer paying KSh 23–25 per kWh for grid electricity, solar systems often achieve payback in 4–6 years. For businesses in remote areas relying on diesel generators, the payback is even faster.
